Be Specific

Don’t say you saw a butterfly;

Say you saw an interesting creature go by.

Don’t tell me that it flew;

That’s what any butterfly would do;

Say it swooped, sored, glided or lifted into the distance.

Don’t say it’s wings were nice;

Say it was gorgeous;

Or outstanding in the daylight.

Don’t say you hear their wings flapping fast;
Say they were flapping vigorously
Or they were flapping viciously in the grass.

If you want writing to be terrific

Then you need to be more specific.




















For our writing we looked at a be specific poem and tried to make our own one up about an animal, place or thing and I chose a butterfly.
